"Fire!"

Today, I got a comment on a two-month-old post that was a laughable legal threat - you can read it in the comments to (this post). Small hint: public speech isn't protected by copyright, and public hate speech is even less so.

This, of course, led me to visit one of my favorite places on Facebook, the psycho-Disneyland that is No Peace For Predators. I admit, I haven't been there in a while, mostly because I don't have enough alcohol to combat the stupid endemic in the comments, but I made an exception today. So, what's our favorite "non-violent" vigilante group been up to? For starters, they've been busy putting out warning flyers for various zip codes, listing names, addresses and pictures of sex offenders living in that area - but only so you're aware of who lives in what area. They wouldn't advocate violence against those people, no sir. Breaking into someone's house? That would be wrong.

In my post "The Hit List", I wondered what would happen if someone decided that sacrificing their life to take out one of the "monsters" was an equitable trade. I fear we are getting closer and closer to that time. Some, like the widow of Gary Blanton, would argue that it's already begun.

Constant violent imagery and statements show NPFP's true intentions, and while they themselves may never follow through, their rhetoric may stir the passions and inflame the anger of less well-balanced followers.

This may be free speech, but with the right comes the responsibility - you can't yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater for a reason. Neither can you constantly advocate death for a class of people without bearing some responsibility for what happens when someone inspired by your words takes action.

  1. I've been monitoring the douchebags over at NPFP a while now. Their brainless leader, David Rowe, was humiliated in his own local media last summer and has been whimpering in a corner ever since. Only like-minded braindead trolls respect the NPFP wannabe thug mentality.

  2. Your screenshots are tame compared to some choice screenshots I posted at my AZUnites page, like Britt P Warden discussing his dreams of harvesting the organs to sex offenders.

    1. I fear that we are rapidly approaching a crisis point in the vigilante discussion about sex offenders, with the escalating violent rhetoric.

    1. No, Valerie, not even then. If there is actually a fire in the theater, The courts have ruled that you are supposed to calmly begin an evacuation, instead of yelling "Fire!", which would lead to a mass stampede to the door, and greater death and injury. It is always amusing when folks who consider themselves "patriotic citizens" are ignorant of the law.

The broader point here, which you failed to comprehend, is that one cannot publicly espouse violent rhetoric without bearing some responsibility for the actions others may take when inspired by such speech. While you, yourself may not actually shoot someone (debatable, given your history of brandishing firearms at people - didn't they teach you not to point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot?), if you keep shouting "someone should shoot this person" and someone does, you bear the responsibility for that as well. In a direct application of Godwin's Law, Hitler never personally killed any Jews, and yet he's known to history as one of the greatest mass murderers precisely because his words inspired violence.

    2. I see Valerie Parkhurst of Davie FL is spewing her hate again. Valerie is a good example of the hypocrisy of these online vigilantes. Valerie has been arrested multiple times for assault and gun crimes. David Rowe of NPFP has also been in trouble with the law. A lot of vigilante groups are run by ex-criminals or people with admitted mental issues. Yet they attack others. it is classic projection. Just like Mark Foley passing sex offender laws while sending sexting chats to teen pages. It is easier for them to attack others because in reality, they hate their own inner demons and want to be seen as less evil. So they point to someone who looks worse than them, and now they feel like a good person. Vigilantes like them need long-term psychiatric intervention, preferable in an inpatient setting.
